Today, we had two dives on the program in the morning. At 08:00, we met at the beach in the bay of Potrero. Together with fellow divers from Switzerland, Holland, and the USA, we got on the boat. Today, there was a stronger swell due to more wind and the current was stronger.
In total, we were able to collect some great pictures and experiences again. Among others, we saw a magnificent shark, more specifically a whitetip reef shark. Due to the current, there was less active marine life today, but we were able to practice and sharpen our skills in such situations. Franko was happy with us in the end ;-)
After the dive, we went together as a group to a "soda" near Tamarindo. A "soda" is a kind of tavern/wine tavern that primarily focuses on food and serves traditional homemade dishes, such as the classic casado. During the exciting exchange with our fellow divers, we also noticed that the TV in the restaurant was showing the football match between Bayern and Leipzig, practically the top game for lunch.
The afternoon was dedicated to relaxing by the pool or in the air-conditioned room. Dives combined with eating can make you really tired. In the late afternoon, we went back to the beach to observe the lively hustle and bustle. Beginner surfers, young soccer players, people on horses - a variety that reflects pure life. In a conversation with Texans, our English skills were praised and they asked if in this Austria in Europe (as we always say ;-)), that would be the mother tongue... Maybe it was also because of the Coco Loco, a fresh coconut with a strong shot of rum, or the cliché is confirmed once again... We enjoyed the sunset with a Mojito, which is relatively early in Costa Rica at around 5:45 p.m.
We ended the successful day with "fancy" food at the Dragonfly restaurant. One of many extremely stylish and appealing restaurants in this small town of Tamarindo. Definitely a hotspot for fans of variety and creative cuisine, and this was also evident at Dragonfly. Well-attended, they serve good cocktails and fusion cuisine with influences from Central America, Mediterranean, and Japanese cuisine. However, the culinary highlight of the evening was the dessert, as the feelings of happiness are best shown in the photo. A dream of carrot-blueberry cake with raisin-rum ice cream, curd cream, and roasted walnuts...
Insight: Diving is a very grateful sport as a sporting activity or as a fat burner (especially considering the portion sizes here). During a dive, you burn about the same number of calories as during a 60-minute run at 9 km/h (about 600 calories). The main reason is the lower temperature of the water (compared to body temperature) and the associated increased heat loss, which the body tries to compensate for by stimulating the metabolic rate. More about this in the link below. Then the food tastes even better afterwards ;-) (https://www.tauchen.de/tauchwissen/tauchmedizin/kalorienverbrauch-beim-tauchen-macht-tauchen-schlank/)
Moment of happiness: Sunset on the beach with a view of the Pacific and a Mojito with good music
