Returning to Thailand

How did it all begin? When I met Mulle, I had actually planned a trip to Thailand as I was taking a break from my professional life and wanted to do something fun. But this charming creature won the battle against Thailand. Instead, a period of traveling between Gothenburg and Stockholm began. Perhaps not as exotic 😀

We had no plans to have children, but of course, it results in a longer leave, so it became a Win-Win. When we finally decided that we would at least bring a child into the world and the production was underway, I told everyone else about my plans, pretty sure that NO ONE believed it would happen. Not even Mulle.

With meticulous planning of parental days, financial compensation during parental leave, and all the rules to keep track of, we managed to get everything in order. We could have sold those Excel sheets for a lot as they were magical. Hard work and a lot of patience pay off.

I began planning during the pregnancy but promised Mulle not to book anything until Lawa was out, at least.

The young lady arrived earlier than planned, so we had to shuffle some plans; we didn't want to go to Thailand too early in the season. Yes, we instead drove for five weeks from Miami to San Francisco and landed in Thailand in November, what a great idea 😀

A five-month-long adventure around the world with an 11-month-old (at the start) resulted in the need for us to return so she can experience this when she can remember something of it, as well as the opportunity to attend school in Thailand. And here we are now!

The planning started as early as 2020, and what we didn’t know back then was that a pandemic would soon start. 10 vacation days a year need to be saved to make this happen, which means we had to stagger our vacations for a few years; nothing comes for free, and everyone has to sacrifice something 😀. If you want something, you have to invest!

With some new conditions at work for both of us, we made sure to get that leave application signed quickly before anyone changed their mind. With the world’s best boss, at least from my perspective (I don’t know Mulle’s), this was never a problem.

Now it's happening! Once in a lifetime! We are on our way! This trip is taking place between October 24 and January 7.
