Froglet Farm

Lawa jumped up to get ready for school. We have some morning homework for her outside of school so she can stay a bit ahead when we get home. Today it was English, and she loves doing that. She is getting braver and braver at speaking and now solves most everyday tasks completely on her own, like going to the store to buy ice cream or ordering at restaurants.

Mulle had a workday today, and no matter how much I explain that he should work one day a week and not two, it doesn't quite sink in.

But at least we managed our morning walk.

There’s a British elderly couple that walks every morning too with their little floor mop. They are incredibly friendly and smile and greet cheerfully. You just feel so happy because of them.

I went with our neighbors to Malee Highlands because there was a paddle tournament for the parents. However, I didn't play but acted more as a Mood Manager.

The appetite is minimal here in the heat, and I made myself two crispbread sandwiches with egg and caviar for breakfast, but I could only manage to eat one. Joy for Mulle who didn't have to make his own breakfast. One is mostly just thirsty all the time.

I picked up Lawa myself today, and we went to buy ice cream and brought some home so dad could taste it too. Then we hung out in the pool and played cards. She had received an envelope from a school friend with beautiful bracelets she made herself, so now Lawa is leading the competition for the most bracelets, which is apparently an achievement.

But then Lawa came up with the idea that she wanted her own froglet farm, so we fixed that. There’s a puddle outside the school that is a real spawn hole. Then we arranged a pool and some rocks and sticks that they can climb onto when they have legs.

In the midst of this, I feel the wind picking up and told Lawa that the rain is coming, which it did a few seconds later. We got completely drenched, but we had a lot of fun.

Once home under the roof, there was such a loud lightning clap that we were almost scared out of our pants. And the power went out across the entire island.

Lawa got really scared, so we sat in my bed with headlamps, flashlights, and drawn blinds to play cards. As always, it’s quite transient, so soon the danger was over, but still no electricity. I did hear that the hotel’s transformer had kicked in, so when Mulle had 'lunch', we went to eat at the hotel restaurant. It was one of the few that had power; otherwise, it was pitch black wherever you looked.

Just before we were done, at least half of the island lit up, our half, and Mulle could go home to have a meeting.

Lawa and I stayed behind, and then it went pitch black again, only to light up completely across the entire island a second later.

We took a walk on the beach and found a light show that was about to start and watched it.

Once home, we played a bit more cards, but it was super boring because Lawa kept winning all the time 😉

When dad finished working and Lawa fell asleep, we had a Chang on the terrace to end the evening.
