Tanunda, Australia

When we arrived in Adelaide the day before yesterday, the weather was beautiful, yesterday it was somewhat overcast with a bit of rain, and today it's back to blue skies.

In the morning, we picked up our rental car, a VW T-Roc. At least it’s not as huge as the one we had in the North. Still, it hurts the heart when you have to brake. With our Jimmy, I try to stick to the rule of 'not pressing the brake pedal more than once per trip'. But it's quite unusual here. And even though these are much newer cars, the assistance systems are weak. You hardly see any electric cars, and since there was a charging station nearby, I checked how expensive the electricity is. Two things were interesting:
1. The kWh price is good and ranges between AUD 0.30 and 0.60 (depending on charging capacity and membership).
2. However, there are hardly any public charging stations across Australia; for example, in Adelaide and Melbourne there are none, and only three in Sydney.
No wonder there are hardly any electric cars. At the same time, there is an excellent state website for electric cars.

However, we made it well from Adelaide to the town of Tanunda with the stone age car. Tanunda is located in the Barossa Valley, one of the major wine regions in Australia, and has about 4,800 inhabitants. The town was founded in 1842, which is quite early for the state of South Australia. Tanunda also tries to preserve the pioneer flair.

First, we visited Château Tanunda, one of the most important and oldest wineries, established in 1890. There we tasted several wines. However, they did not impress us; they were just okay, but compared to the Chileans we tried, they were a bit behind. The winery is very beautiful, and the guest reception and wine tasting are excellently designed.

Afterward, we explored Tanunda, walked along a historic path, and learned a lot along the way.
