We picked up our rental car in San José first, an all-wheel-drive vehicle, as the rainy season had already started in some areas and we didn't want to get stuck anywhere.

We only spent one night at the 'El Rodeo' hotel here before setting off to explore the country. The hotel was a good start with a small pool, which we didn't have time to use. In the evening, we dined at the hotel's restaurant, and in the morning, breakfast was also served there. You could choose between the local dish Gallo Pinto, which is rice with beans and eggs, pancakes, or an omelette, etc...
