We have quite a bit to catch up on!

On October 20th, we switched hotels within Siem Reap and spent the evening exploring the new surroundings a bit. Even though it was just around the corner, we found the city to feel completely different here. Somehow louder, more colorful, more authentic (?) nightlife. The next day, we organized a tour through the hotel to visit the more distant temples.

These were also very impressive and partly even older than the previous temples. However, they were also smaller, so we needed significantly less time for the visit and were already back in the city after about 2 hours to get something to eat and buy postcards. A few Christmas gifts also found their way into our bags. Below, you'll find some pictures from the inside of one of these markets, so you might be able to imagine the atmosphere a bit better.

On Wednesday, we organized an afternoon tour to one of the floating villages. These are located around the Tonle Sap, the largest lake in Cambodia and Southeast Asia. There, we could explore the village by boat (really all buildings, whether school or hospital, are in the water), have a meal at a local restaurant, and enjoy the sunset over the water in the evening.

The next day was all about spending a lot of time on the bus. We were on the road for a full 9 hours until we arrived at the coast in Sihanoukville. The city overwhelmed us. It is completely different from anything we have experienced in Cambodia so far. There are large, abandoned buildings next to construction sites where even larger modern casinos and hotels are being built. There are hardly any typical markets. But: there are beaches. And they look beautiful and host various small food stalls with fresh seafood, including sea creatures we hadn't encountered before, such as rays.

Snacks for the road
Eating tables are freely available all over the beach

Tomorrow we will continue to the islands. We hope the internet stays stable there!
