Colonia del Sacramento was my first destination in Uruguay. By ferry, like I did, this western town of Uruguay is the fastest to reach from Buenos Aires. One thing that immediately caught my attention about this town is the incredibly few tourists you come across wherever you go. Even in the historic old town, which is actually the ultimate tourist attraction, you could easily take photos without anyone walking in front of the camera. If you visit Colonia, a few hours are actually enough to see everything and walk every street in the old town. You can also walk along the coast, climb the lighthouse, or walk a few kilometers along the beach to the big letters 'COLONIA'. Despite the few possible activities, the city is more than worth seeing and, thanks to its beautiful old town and coastline, is at least one of my favorite cities on this trip.
