Hello there!

After a swim in the pool and breakfast, I said goodbye to Adrian (we exchanged phone numbers) and off I went. Off to Montevideo.

No problem. I now know roughly how to drive in South America. It's quite simple and relaxed. Maximum speed 90 km/h; in Argentina, it was even partially 130 km/h.

The hotel looks good from the outside. Everything is in order.

Yes, the room is fine too. Everything is kept historic. No wonder the hotel is called 'Alma Historica Boutique Hotel'. I like it.

The pedestrian zone is right next door. First exploration:

Founder of Montevideo. I forgot the name. ;)

At the end of the pedestrian zone is the market hall. Restaurants and shops have been integrated here. It's well done:

4:00 PM, I am a bit hungry now. A small snack is in order. Baked queso and a glass of Malbec. Exactly what I needed.

I then asked the waiter why they had Malbec on the menu but no Tannat. He had to admit that it was unusual. Just an experiment.

Gotcha. ;)

Back to the hotel. Relax a bit. There’s supposed to be a rooftop terrace:

It's nice. Unfortunately, the hot tub is not in operation. :(

Here’s a panorama:

And where was the Graf Spee now? ;)

Okay, 9:00 PM. Time to hit the town.

I then marched down the main axis in search of a party or a restaurant.

It was quite disappointing: no party, no restaurant. Just more McDonald's, Starbucks, Burger King, McDonald's, Starbucks, Burger King...

Really frustrating. It was a bit different in the previous cities.

Well, I got fed up. I took a taxi and said: 'Take me to the best restaurant you know.'

That was okay too. But this main street was really depressing.

This time lamb. The carrés were okay. At home, I always make them with thyme. Hmm.

Anyway, Tannat was available. That was the main thing.

CU!
