Day 4 Witzenhausen --> Kassel

Well, this could be a relatively short entry, because the route was actually not long. After being treated to a good breakfast by my hosts in Blickershausen and the third rain shower of the morning had subsided, I set off for Witzenhausen-City. Honestly, just out of curiosity, because even though I lived in Kassel for five years, I never went to Witzenhausen during that time. And that, even though it also has a lot of beautiful half-timbered houses and is the cherry capital of Germany, as emphasized on many posters.

And what can I say, it's actually a very pretty town with half-timbered houses, it wasn't busy around lunchtime, so no street music, and after the nice lady at the tourist information recommended that I return to Kassel via the Werra and Hann.Münden and then go up the Fulda, I remembered my scouting honor (never turn back, or something like that) and chose the difficult way via Kleinalmerode (heard about it a thousand times, never been there, unlike HMÜ it wasn't a real loss) and the 'Umschwang', a mountain pass that is so high that it even had its own shelter! But it wasn't that difficult to drive (thank you Bosch!) and very picturesque, especially when Google guided me on obscure but beautiful forest paths to Kaufungen after the summit, which sometimes had an almost alpine character. Anyway, there was a square called 'Königsalm' there.

The prevailing feeling on this day was definitely: Did I used to live here? Why can't I remember much of it? A lot has changed in Kassel itself, and I probably forgot the rest.

At least I found the house where I used to live and also the park where we used to go more often back then.

Afterwards, I went to the first couchsurfing stay of this tour (let's see if there's another one, the site is pretty dormant, I have the impression. Do you know couchsurfing? Otherwise, look it up, for example here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CouchSurfing).

And with Ute, couchsurfing was just as it should be: I was offered a nice guest room, could take a shower, and was even invited by her and her friend to have dinner in their allotment garden, where we had a nice evening with interesting conversations.
