Video shoot & shock moment

The last two weeks have been pretty cool since we had a young photographer and environmentalist visiting from Florida, who is deeply committed to protecting the Everglades. He is 20 years old and has already collaborated with National Geographic, Nikon, and UNESCO among others. He also travels around the world as a speaker at schools to teach children about the importance of nature and climate protection. 800,000 followers on Instagram, and even 1.8 million on TikTok. He has built all of this through his impressive footage...

He came here for a week with the intention of filming a video for the foundation to generate more reach and attention for it. The week was really nice. I was present at all the filming locations and activities. Therefore, it was incredibly interesting to see how he works and what the “behind the scenes” looks like during such a video production. I was able to see some initial shots and I am really excited to see what the final video will look like. He has an incredible talent for emotionally engaging the viewers, which is clearly evident in his previous videos.

We also got along really well and had an unbelievable amount of fun. In the end, we exchanged numbers. You never know if an opportunity to collaborate arises again in the future. I definitely have a feeling that our paths will cross again someday...

After that week, more guests started coming to the lodge again than in the previous weeks. At the same time, the weather changed significantly due to some storms. As I mentioned in the last post: The sounds of thunder here are truly something I have never experienced before. But a few days ago, it was even topped.

One night, around 2 AM, I suddenly found myself sitting upright in bed with an adrenaline rush and a heart rate that felt like 180. I had just experienced the loudest thunderclap of my life. So loud that I didn't even know such a thing was possible. I would even say it was the loudest sound I have ever heard in my life. The feeling was indescribable. Completely filled with adrenaline, wide awake, and half-sweaty. It took a while for me to realize what had just happened, and then I could calm down a bit. The craziest part of this whole thing was that during all this time, not a single raindrop fell, which made it even more surprising! Just lightning and thunder, and that less than a hundred meters from my room. Even Lana said in the morning that she had never experienced anything like this before...

Otherwise, not much noteworthy has happened. In about a week, I hopefully have a few days off again and can finally finish my university assignments. I really can't wait to be done with all of this!
