What can be said about today’s journey?

07:50 Departure - Sunny weather at 14 degrees

Italian highways are so empty on a Sunday morning, it was truly a delight. We passed Turin and entered the mountains, the highway meandered along. Since I have my Bib&Go with me, you can just drive through all the toll booths - very convenient!

After just over two hours, suddenly after crossing the Italian border (I didn’t even really notice the French one), we found ourselves in front of a tunnel with a toll station. My mention of Telepass (Bip&Go) was met with a shake of the head from the lady at the counter. Nope, here they are collecting cash! Without any prior warning, the toll collectors demanded a whopping 37.30 euros for passing through a measly 13 km long tunnel on a motorcycle!

On the French side, it became warmer, but also windier.

After filling up in Italy for 1.87 euros, I also found a cheap gas station in France (1.98 euros). The highway gas stations all charge 2.20 euros and more.

Knowing that fuel was cheaper in Spain, I 'limped' to La Jonquera just behind the Spanish border with 20 km of range left. What can I say? It was worth it! 1.61 euros per liter for super, you wonder why the stuff is so expensive back home.

Ultimately, after 830 km and 8 hours of driving, I arrived in Girona.

No great photos today, just captured Vally during a break.
