On the way to Wrocław, we made three stops today.

First, we stopped at Moszna Castle, which looks like a fairy tale castle with its mix of different architectural styles and many towers.

Moszna Castle

The current structure was built at the end of the 19th century and today houses a hotel, but it is also open for castle tours and visitors.

Moszna Castle

Unfortunately, when we arrived, there were only Polish tours available, and the next unguided visit would not have been possible for another two hours.

So we bought tickets for the park and looked at the castle from the outside.

To get a glimpse of the interior, we enjoyed a coffee in the castle café.

Our next stop was in the provincial capital Opole.

Opole

We could not understand the designation as 'Silesian Venice', even though there were some beautiful spots in the city.

Opole

The town hall was built in 1936 and is said to have been inspired by the Florentine Palazzo Vecchio...

After our tour, we stopped at a small local establishment and had a large portion of pierogi.

Lastly, we stopped in Brzeg.

St. Nicholas Church Brzeg

At St. Nicholas Church, we noticed how high the nave was built.

Otherwise, we found the city mostly not very interesting, apart from the castle.

Brzeg Castle

It was built here for the Piast rulers when Brzeg was still the capital of an independent principality.

Brzeg Castle

After being destroyed by fires and war, it was rebuilt from 1966 to 1990.

We continued on to Wrocław, which we plan to explore over the next two days.
