From Melsungen to Schenklengsfeld
The weather was not an issue today. At least not for us. But we have heard of the terrible storms in the west. Today, we drove along the Fulda River for a major part of the way....

In a gray laundry room, we left Schenklengsfeld relatively early in the morning. Even without rain, we were soaked in no time. The first highlight was the long descent into the Werra Valley. It was pure enjoyment. We then followed the Werra Valley cycle path, which eventually led us to our destination, Meiningen in Thuringia. However, the quality of the path was significantly worse than that of the Fulda cycle path. In addition to relatively long distances on country roads without bike paths, a large part of the route was on unpaved paths. If these paths are also steep and muddy, it feels more like a mountain bike trail. It is actually unreasonable to designate something like this as a cycle path. For our lunch break today, we found a very nice spot. Two benches far away from any major road right on the Werra River. Just as we had finished eating and wanted to lie down on the benches as usual, a lone cyclist came and sat down with us, and finally started smoking. We were glad when he finally left, but we quickly got up and left as well. We arrived at our destination relatively early today, so we didn't go to the hotel right away, but first enjoyed our welcome beer.
