My ship journey from Punta Arenas to Puerto Williams, to Navarino Island.
30 hours through the Strait of Magellan, past Isla Dawson, several unnamed smaller islands, through the Beagle Channel to the southern regions of Chile.
Here I have all the time in the world, infinitely much time at the 'end of the world'. Time to reflect. I gaze for hours at the beautiful, rugged landscape of Patagonia, at the many different mountain worlds, with their mostly snow-capped peaks, and everywhere small waterfalls cascading down from the mountains, partly from the gigantic glaciers. It is infinitely beautiful to find time, time just for me, my time.
Today is my 57th birthday, I don’t think I've received many such wonderful birthday gifts... Thank you Uncle Padre!
Here everything is limitless, not just time, but also the sea, the mountains, the land. Here I forget all the hard times, all the suffering of this earth. Here, with all the indescribable sights, one only thinks of all the beautiful things in life. It is a dream to be allowed to be here, a dream that has come true for me. I have fallen in love with this part of the earth, in love with Patagonia. Patagonia, beautiful, mystical, sometimes frightening, then calming, with all its facets. I could stay here forever.
Those who do not know the forests of Chile,
do not know the earth
