Through the Palatinate to the Eifel

Bad weather, even with thunderstorms, was forecast for today. So we set off early from the Black Forest. The plan was to make a stopover in the Palatinate, in Sankt Martin. A room had been booked at the Sankt Martiner Castell.

But it was going to be a tiring and sweaty drive.

Hot, humid thunderstorm air and then it started to rain. So we stopped to put on our rain gear.

Hardly on the road in our rain gear, the sun started shining again. So we took off the rain gear and stowed it away. We continued like this. The dark clouds caught up with us again and the raindrops became bigger. So we stopped at a gas station to refuel and put our rain gear back on.

We arrived at our accommodation around 2:15 PM. Totally wet, but from the inside, since the sun was shining again.

We settled into our very nice and large double room. First, a shower. What a relief.

For dinner, there was Palatinate Saumagen and mushroom ravioli with salad. After two 🍻 and a digestif, it's off to bed early tonight. Tomorrow we continue to the Eifel.
