For a typical braai on your own grill, Butcher inStellenbosch Square is highly recommended, leaving no wishes unfulfilled. Next door is Woolworth, where you can quickly grab bread and salad. Don’t forget the charcoal ......
There are also very good restaurants in town: Dusk and Mertia.
Spiers Estate has excellent wines, a top-quality sparkling wine that is almost champagne-like, and the large grounds invite you to stroll. You can eat in several places on the estate.
Blaauwklippen is always worth a visit.
The top tip is Rust En Vrede: this is where you go for an exclusive winemaker lunch. The wines are extremely top-notch, and the food is also fantastic. Don’t miss out and reserve a table on the terrace!
The wine tasting at Falke Estate, the German sock manufacturer, is entertaining. Peter’s wife is French and has a refined sense of design.
If you enjoy white wine in the red wine region, UVA MIRA is the right place, where you can find good Chardonnay.
On weekends, head to Cavalli for lunch or dinner.
If you have more time, visit Vergelegen Estate near Somerset West, which is also highly recommended.
