March 12 - 13 - Arrival in Hanoi
Hanoi, first day

Published: 15.03.2026

Saturday, second day, jetlag. I woke up at 2:00, forced myself to stay in bed until 4:00, and then startled the night porter who was sleeping on the couch in the lobby as I returned to my quarters in front of the hotel.
After breakfast, we catch up on our sleep deficit until noon.
In the afternoon, we wander through the French Quarter, which testifies to the largely infamous colonial period of the French from the mid-nineteenth century until after World War II. It's incredibly crowded with tourists from all over the world. I enjoy a cappuccino that we have during our break.
It is truly exhausting. Thousands of scooters and people, cars, rickshaws wanting to take you along. We relax a bit at the hotel, then get a SIM card for Katja and book our trip to Sa Pa.
Our need for new experiences is satisfied, so we have dinner at the hotel again and then play a game of Scrabble. I unluckily lose ;-)
