Goodbye Phnom Penh, tomorrow we continue. We are heading to Siem Reap to visit Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat is not only the largest temple complex in the world, but also the largest religious monument on Earth, stretching over 162.6 hectares (1.6 million square meters).
Here now is a small selection of all the beautiful tours, the friendly encounters, the 'sweet' moments that touched our hearts, and of course, the delicious food at every corner.
The dog with her puppies at the motorcycle parking lot, trusting and cared for by the guides. The young man operating the ferry ramp who shyly asks: where you from. The nice waiter at the sky bar, the competent and always smiling receptionist, the polite tuk-tuk driver, the Indonesian restaurant owner who was so happy about our Indonesian greeting, the respectful restraint of many people, allowing us time to choose, to look around, to formulate.
How wonderful it is to be allowed to take time! How beautiful it is to observe, to go forward.
How wonderful it is to get back into the 'step', to exchange experiences, to move appropriately in the surroundings.
How wonderful it is to take into account the mood and local circumstances when planning the day. To go with the flow, to adapt.
And, also very important, because it's different than 35 years ago: How wonderful it is to stay in charming hotels with a pool and a sky bar!
Phnom Penh, a capital that is not yet suffocated, where everything is easily accessible, that exudes a very friendly and inviting atmosphere. It does not shy away from presenting history. It is full of young people who want to know, curious, smiling joyfully, and meeting us with interest. Thank you for that! Maybe see you again 😃
