Day #38
Sunday, June 7th
Constanța
Country: Romania
Sleeping in. And I really slept in, waking up properly only shortly after noon.
Wonderful.
Breakfast, and then I decide to stay in the apartment.
I receive an extreme weather alert from the Romanian weather service, with heavy rain, storms, and thunderstorms all included.
And then it starts pouring. So much that the drain in front of my apartment door turns into a fountain as the water backs up there.
That’s fine, I can take care of writing the report from the day before yesterday. I've been a bit lazy about that.
Once the worst is over, I take a stroll along the beach.
Of course in my swim trunks, I definitely want to go swimming.
Which I do when I return towards the apartment.
The water is turquoise blue and clear.
Wonderful.
A quick rinse-off afterwards, before I grab my bike and head into the city.
First stop is the Ovid Monument, where he was exiled about 2,000 years ago.
I gather some nice impressions.
A wide street is closed off all the way to the harbor, and many people are strolling along here.
I roll by at a leisurely pace.
Since it’s already afternoon, I grab a snack. So that I can strengthen myself for the search of a place for my dinner.
This persists throughout the vacation, basically, I’m permanently hungry.
The sky has also darkened quite a bit again, and the first heavy raindrops start to fall, prompting me to head towards my accommodation.
On the way, I find a Turkish restaurant, which I approach without hesitation.
The rain keeps intensifying, making the decision easy.
On the terrace, I can enjoy my falafel plate comfortably and dry.
And I can find a route to the nearest supermarket.
Well, I know it's Sunday, but the shops close 'already' at 8:00 PM, as I am reminded on-site when I see the locked doors.
At least it has stopped raining again.
So I will replenish my supplies tomorrow before departure.
That's okay too; then it's back to the beach to unwind for the evening before I pack up the essentials and comfortably fall into bed.
Song of the day:
Disfiguring the Goddess - Don't Stop Swimming
