Today we continue over the Burkes Pass where we will visit an original collector of vintage cars. Then on to Lake Tekapo with the beautiful church of the Good Shepherd, built as a memorial to the pioneers of the Mackenzie Country. Next, we will go over Ben Chau to Mount Cook, also known as Aoraki, at 3724 meters, the highest mountain in New Zealand, and then continue to Kurow.

Kurow is located about 56 kilometers northwest of Oamaru in the valley of the Waitaki River. To the southwest of the town rises the St Marys Range, on the northern side of the river is the Kirkliston Range. About 12 km northwest of the town lies Lake Waitaki and northwest of that is Lake Aviemore.

The main source of income for the local residents is agriculture and sheep farming, as well as the operation of hydropower plants located around Kurow.] Kurow is also known for its wine production, particularly of the Pinot noir variety.
