Tour data: Distance 125.82 kilometers, Ø 21.6 km/h, driving time 5:50 hours
Weather: very cloudy with cool temperatures, but relatively little wind
Remarkable today: Many bike paths, long straight sections, beautiful avenues and a great city at about 70 kilometers. I already knew Zwolle a little bit. We've already vacationed on a houseboat in Holland a few times and got to know landscapes and cities from the water. I can highly recommend such vacations. You always have your hotel room with you and can comfortably drive through the countryside.
This morning I forgot to take a start photo in front of the hotel. I do this primarily to record the departure time and to have the hotel in the background. I only noticed that a few minutes after departure and then just took a photo without a hotel. But the photo was taken at 07:38, so I drove off just after seven thirty.
Shortly thereafter I came to a canal with a drawbridge, but it was open to traffic. These drawbridges are raised when a houseboat comes. They often ask for a small fee. You put this in a wooden shoe, which the bridge keeper sends to the boat on a fishing line and then takes back filled with it. There is no change, so you must always have enough small change with you. Cashless payment is also not possible. Such beautiful memories come to my mind when I see this.
There were also some construction sites, but fortunately none that I couldn't pass. I also saw the famous windmills. I only photographed the first one, even though I always enjoy looking at it.
I did my daily shopping at the first shop that was open. A liter of milk is always included, fresh bread and anything else that comes to mind and turns me on. Today again lettuce, pickled herring and salami.
Otherwise, the trip was nice for me, even if there is not that much to tell. In Zwolle I have already entered the address of the Mediamarkt. My power bank gave up the ghost and I had to buy a new one. Although there was a Mediamarkt in Emmen almost next to the hotel, it didn't open until ten o'clock. That was definitely too late for me.
I gladly used this opportunity to take a short walk through the beautiful old town. I only left the city after more than 90 minutes to get closer to my goal. Originally I had Amsterdam on my wish list. But I was in Amsterdam for a few days last autumn. That's why I've now decided on Rotterdam, which I don't know at all. So tomorrow's destination is in the center of Rotterdam, where I've already booked a hotel.
At the end of today's tour I came to a 'sea', namely the Veluvemeer. There are some sandy beaches along this body of water, but they were totally deserted in today's cool weather. Instead, I saw a flamingo that presented itself calmly and proudly. My eBike didn't miss out either and got to know a bigger fellow.
Pssst: Today it can spend the night in my room again. 😊
