After an early start, we continued along the beautiful coastal road towards East Cape Lighthouse. The last 20 km led us on a gravel road, but the surroundings were still incredibly beautiful. We then climbed 795 steps up to the lighthouse, which is the easternmost lighthouse in the world. From here, it's about 47 nautical miles to the International Date Line, with the West beginning somewhere just beyond the horizon.
