Verona

When one hears Verona, one often thinks immediately of Julia and Romeo. But Verona has so much more to offer than the supposed house of Julia and the famous balcony.

When I arrived in Verona, the sun was shining. Even though it was already late afternoon, I enjoyed it so much.

In Verona, I had my first overnight stay with another Servas member. Servas is a kind of Couchsurfing platform that focuses on peaceful cultural exchange. If you stay at someone's place, you should also spend some time with them. A shared dinner or an outing. I was allowed to sleep at Cinzia's place. She has a beautiful apartment overlooking Verona's old town.

As you can already read, on my first full day, I went to Lake Garda. But I still had some time in the evening and took a little look around Verona.

Verona has an arena, a Roman amphitheater, and it's one of the best-preserved in Italy.

And then I just continued walking through the city. I got an Italian snack and enjoyed the sunset in the city.

And then, on the way home, I happened to find Julia's balcony, and it was even accessible, at least from below.

The river Adige flows through Verona, and on each side, there is a footpath that is really nice for entering or exiting the city.

Before I set off for the next city the next day, I took the morning to find a viewpoint in Verona. Because that's something I try to find in every place. I find it nice to see the visited city from above.

So I went up many steps, which really paid off in the end.

On my way back through the city, I found a bakery that made these delicious cookies filled with coffee.

And here too, I had the chance to let spring affect me. Everything is waking up, and the sun's rays are slowly becoming warmer. This makes the colorful houses in Italy appear even warmer.
