Stratford-upon-Avon - Shakespeare's birthplace

Coventry is a city in Central England. I mainly 'stayed' in Coventry for a few days, as it is a very good place to explore the surroundings. And thanks to the McFaddens, I also had free accommodation where I felt very welcome.
Since I had already been here with my family a few years ago, I didn't take another close look at the city and just went for a walk in the city center, capturing a few architectural images along the way.

As in many English cities, very old structures stand right next to very new ones. In the city, you can still find old parts of the city wall. This wall dates back to the 14th century and is made of red sandstone.
In contrast, you can also occasionally find street art.

Moreover, there are some old half-timbered houses, especially in the old town.
In the Middle Ages, Coventry was an important city for Britain. Later, it made a name for itself in the bicycle and automotive industry, but was almost completely destroyed during the Second World War. Since the 1980s, there has been a downturn due to high unemployment, but in recent years the city has been regenerating and experiencing an increase in population. Today, the city has three universities, for instance.

Other than that, I used my time in Coventry to relax a bit, enjoy the sun, do some baking, and spend time with the McFaddens.
