Art and Nature United

An important goal of our autumn journey is the Kröller-Müller Museum in the Hoge Veluwe, a little outside of Otterlo. Today we visited this extraordinary place where art and nature come together in a unique way. It was a truly enriching and fulfilling experience.

The Kröller-Müller Museum is the life's work of Helene Kröller-Müller and houses the second-largest and perhaps most beautiful collection of the painter Vincent van Gogh, after the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. Between 1907 and 1939, Helene Kröller-Müller, along with her husband Anton Kröller, purchased nearly 11,500 works of art: one of the largest private collections of the 20th century. Helene dreamed at that time of a museum house where she could share her love for art with everyone. When the Kröller-Müller Museum opened its doors in 1939, her dream was realized. Subsequently, the museum was expanded with various new buildings and the establishment of a sculpture garden. And all of this within an extensive nature reserve that is worth a visit in itself. We are impressed and thrilled!
