Zaragoza (in Roman times Caesaraugusta) is a city and municipality in the province of Zaragoza, in Aragon (Spain, Europe). It is the capital of Aragon, of the province of Zaragoza, and of the Central comarca of Aragon (previously called the comarca of Zaragoza). It is also the head of the judicial district, being judicial district no. 3 of the province of Zaragoza.

With a population (according to data from the INE in 2023) of 682,513 inhabitants, Zaragoza is the fourth most populous city in Spain, surpassing Seville; however, the Metropolitan Area of Zaragoza, excluding the capital, has a small population of just 116,616 inhabitants, as there are hardly any towns with more than 10,000 inhabitants around Zaragoza (it is noteworthy that, after Zaragoza, Huesca, and Teruel, the most populated non-capital city in Aragon is Calatayud with only 19,776 inhabitants). The area of Zaragoza is 1,063 km², making it one of the largest municipalities in all of Spain.

The most emblematic monument in Zaragoza is the Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, which has been documented since the 9th century and was built in a Baroque style with Mudejar touches.
