Marina d'Or (since mid-2024 it is called Magic World Resort) is a former housing development and 'holiday city' located in the municipality of Orpesa/Oropesa del Mar, in the province of Castelló/Castellón, in the Comunitat Valenciana (Spain, Europe); situated on the Costa Azahar (or Costa dels Tarongers). As I mentioned earlier, since mid-2024 it is called Magic World Resort because Marina d'Or permanently closed its doors at the end of 2023 after going through a tremendous crisis, and just at the beginning of 2024 the Alicante company Magic Costa Blanca (with amusement parks in Benidorm) purchased the entire development to turn it into the new 'holiday city' Magic World Resort. The new 'holiday city' opened its doors in June 2024.
The former Marina d'Or, one of the most luxurious and famous beach holiday destinations on the Mediterranean coast during the 2000s and 2010s, was inaugurated in 1997 by businessman Jesús Ger García, with the contribution of former Prime Minister José María Aznar. Its two famous campaign slogans were '¡Marina d'Or, how cool!' and 'Marina d'Or, Holiday City; tell me.'
The urbanization (and the current 'holiday city') has a population of 2028 inhabitants (according to INE data from 2023) (in 2022 it had 1612 inhabitants).
