La Ràpita (until 2021 it was called Sant Carles de la Ràpita) is a coastal city and municipality in the south of the province of Tarragona, in Catalonia (Spain, Europe). It belongs to the comarca of Montsià (comarca capital: Amposta) and the judicial district of Amposta, the judicial party no. 3 of the province of Tarragona. It is also part of the tourist area of the Ebro Lands (in Catalan Terres de l'Ebre).
According to data from the INE for the year 2024, it has a population of 15,683 inhabitants and an area of 53.69 km². The municipality of Sant Carles (or La Ràpita) is divided between the city of La Ràpita and the small localities (villages) of les Salines de la Trinitat, Masia de Mata-redona, and el Ligallo.
La Ràpita has two churches: the parish church of La Ràpita dedicated to the Holy Trinity (built in 1941) and the New Church (built in the 18th century in neoclassical style by King Charles III of Bourbon, the same king who would lend his name to the city 'Sant Carles de la Ràpita').
