The next day is Christmas Day, and we are invited to Duncan's family. I am warmly welcomed, there's a glass of champagne for toasting, a large bright living room, a table for adults, a table for kids, very delicious food, and plenty of storytelling... similar to how my children are currently celebrating at grandma's. A really wonderful day with a nice family, indeed at 24°.
In the following days, I first adjust to the new daily rhythm, spending as much time outdoors as possible. The bus gets washed, unpacked, and repacked. A first test drive goes well, but I also have to get used to driving on the right side again; Duncan experiences a brief moment of panic with me when I want to turn the wrong way.
I help a bit in the garden, hopefully, the hedge trimming meets the usual standard of Knipp company.. :-)
As always, the many sounds and sights are again unusual; there are so many strange birds and plants here.
We celebrate New Year's Eve with the neighbors, unusually quiet without the fireworks and bangs familiar from Germany.
