From Cape Town to Hartenbos into the wilderness

After a hearty breakfast, we set off today from Cape Town towards Hartenbos. We made a brief stop in Betty's Bay to see the penguins – to be honest, it wasn't really worth it and ended up being more of a footnote of the day.

We also stopped at the sand dunes where one can go sand surfing.

In between, we took a coffee break under the fig tree.

Things got really exciting about ten kilometers from our destination. We had just turned onto a sand road when we suddenly spotted the first rhinos. Shortly after, we encountered two giraffes – in other words, we had arrived in the wilderness.

We reached the private game lodge through two gates, for safety due to the free-roaming animals, and by the time we entered our chalet, we were speechless. Two bedrooms, a private kitchen, and most importantly, this view – simply breathtaking. Right outside our door are zebras, antelopes, buffaloes, and an incredible number of rhinos. Pure nature and tranquility – exactly what I envisioned Africa to be.

Tomorrow, we have a private safari planned, which is offered directly by the lodge.
