From Lake Geneva to Zermatt – An adventure between rain and sunshine

Today our day began at Lake Geneva and took us on an adventurous route to Täsch – with the grand goal: Zermatt! Despite mixed weather forecasts, we dared to go, and it was absolutely worth it. While it rained in the valley, we were greeted above in Zermatt by a combination of bright sunshine and impressive cloud formations – a dreamlike atmosphere.

The journey itself was already an experience. From Visp, the road wound its way up the mountain with curves and impressive bridges. However, the roads are excellently constructed, and our Pössl handled the route with ample horsepower without any issues. Upon arriving in Täsch, we parked at Camping Attenbrucken and walked the nearly 2 kilometers to the train station. Finding a parking spot directly in Täsch with a motorhome in this season is quite challenging.

The train ride to Zermatt was simply beautiful. The landscape that unfolds during the journey is breathtaking. Once we reached the top, at around 1600 meters, we were welcomed by a mountain village straight out of a storybook. Although the Matterhorn wasn't completely clear of clouds – the clouds persisted stubbornly – the view was still majestic. We spent about six hours in Zermatt, strolling along magnificent hiking trails, with a continuous view of the Matterhorn.

When we returned to the valley at 6:30 PM, it was raining – yet the Matterhorn in the distance was illuminated by the sun. A magical contrast that perfectly rounded off the day.

We took advantage of the rain and set off in the evening towards Freiburg. There we found a wonderful pitch right by the river with a view of the old town. The tranquility was unique – a place to breathe and enjoy. Highly recommended for anyone traveling by camper.

Tomorrow we continue towards Interlaken, with stops at Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. We are excited to see what natural beauties await us next!
