12 days full of impressions, movement, and surprises

Day 1 – Thursday, July 17, 2025

From Waldviertel to Luxembourg: Road trip, cycling adventure & free train 🚗🚴‍♂️🚆

Breakfast in Waldviertel, then we’re off: The car is fully packed, the bikes are mounted – we start punctually at 7 a.m. Destination: Trier. After about 9 hours through summer landscapes, we reach the oldest city in Germany.

A brief stroll through the old town – then we switch modes of transport: up on the bikes and cross the green border to Luxembourg! Completely without control, completely without stress.

And then: The highlight! In Luxembourg, all public transport is free. We board the train with our bikes and travel comfortably to Luxembourg City – stress-free, convenient, free.

One day, three countries, three transport methods – the perfect start!

Day 2 – Friday, July 18, 2025

Cycling tour through the triple border area – Luxembourg, France, Belgium 🚴‍♀️🌳

Today we start sportily: only 21 km, but with impressive 218 meters of elevation. On the bright side, the sun is shining, and the scenery is stunning.

Our starting point in Luxembourg was a real insider tip: quiet, right on the edge of the forest, almost like wild camping – stunningly beautiful.

In the evening, we continue by car to Brussels. And one more thing to note: In Luxembourg, not only is the train free, but so is the bus & tram – and the bike can go everywhere. A real paradise for mobile explorers!

Day 3 – Saturday, July 19, 2025

Brussels – Much seen, mixed impressions 🏛️🚌

We spent the night in Lenniken – only €3 for a bus ticket to central Brussels. There, we use the hop-on-hop-off bus (€27) to see as much as possible.

On the agenda: government district, Grand Place, Atomium, Manneken Pis, Palace of Justice, and EU Parliament.

We take a lot with us – but: Brussels feels dirty and unkempt at many corners. Still exciting to have been there.

Day 4 – Sunday, July 20, 2025

Goeree-Overflakkee: Dutch cycling paradise 🚲🇳🇱

Our route today: over 50 km on the Dutch island of Goeree-Overflakkee. The bike paths? A dream: wide, smooth, perfectly signposted, and completely separated from car traffic.

We ride through well-kept towns, past fields marked
