Bodensee Cycling Tour 2024! A week full of nature and activity

Day 1 – Arrival and kick-off at the Flower Island

We started our tour in Konstanz with our motorhome – we quickly found our first parking spot. In the evening, we got on our bikes for a relaxed ride to Mainau Island. Between 5:30 PM and 8:15 PM, we strolled through the colorful sea of flowers, enjoyed the fragrant gardens, gazed over the lake, and were rewarded with a stunning sunset. We returned by bike through the evening streets of Konstanz, including a cozy stop before heading back to our mobile home.

Daily distance: 24.7 km

Day 2 – Culture, nature, and charming villages

After a restful night, we started from our parking spot in Konstanz. The route took us over Reichenau Island, past Allensbach, Moos, Horn, and Hemmenhofen to Stein am Rhein. We continued cycling along the Swiss shore to Steckborn before completing the loop back to Konstanz. Afterwards, we moved our parking spot to Dingelsdorf – ready for the next stage.

Daily distance: 73.88 km

Day 3 – Bodensee Highlights and Boat Trip

Today was filled with sporty activities: From Dingelsdorf, we cycled through Liggeringen and Ludwigshafen to Überlingen, then continued towards Meersburg, Fischbach, and Friedrichshafen. There, we switched to a boat and enjoyed the relaxing ride back to Konstanz. From there, we cycled back over Egg to Dingelsdorf. But the day wasn't over yet – we drove further with the car to the next parking spot in Fußach.

Daily distance: 79.98 km

Day 4 – Unlimited Cycling

From Fußach, we cycled along Lake Constance over Bregenz to Lindau and took the boat again to Friedrichshafen. After a short break, we took the boat back to Bregenz – and from there, we cycled back to Fußach. To finish, we took a little extra loop through the charming village.

Daily distance: 66.02 km

Day 5 – The Big Loop Closes

Last big tour day – we cycled roughly 10 km to Bregenz, where we took a boat to Konstanz. From there, we set off on our final stage over Romanshorn, Arbon, and Rheineck back to Fußach. With a proud total of 320.16 km (including some small extra challenges), we completed our Lake Constance loop!

But at the very end, there was a little extra waiting…

Daily distance: 75.57 km

Side trip to Vaduz – Three countries, one day

We continued by car to Vaduz – the capital of Liechtenstein.

Day 6

There, we walked up the path to Vaduz Castle, which rewarded us with a breathtaking view over the Rhine Valley. Later we cycled through Vaduz and crossed the border – a lovely day in the three countries of Liechtenstein, Switzerland, and Austria. We spent the night at a cozy parking spot by the stadium – along with other motorhome friends.

Daily distance: 21.24 km + some kilometers on foot

Conclusion: Active, eventful, unforgettable

320 km on the bike around Lake Constance, breathtaking views, relaxing boat tours, and charming places in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland – complemented by a small, but fine detour to Liechtenstein. With 21 km of cycling tour, this week was sporty, diverse, and simply beautiful. With many impressions in our luggage, we returned home – grateful for this intense break in nature.
