Saumur - Savonnières
Today we are heading to Savonnières on the Cher. This teaches us that not only old American beauty icons have that name. Breakfast today will be in the city.

Today we are going via Tours to Amboise. Due to the expected 38 °C, we are only traveling 45 km so that we can arrive at the campsite by noon and enjoy the rising heat there.

In Tours, we drive through the old town and visit the cathedral.

Before Thomas Schmidt, along with Antione Louis, constructively took on the building of the guillotine, real handwork was done:

From the design draft to implementation, it only took two weeks in the year 1792 until the first machine was built. A week later, the first heads were already rolling.

We spent the hot afternoon hours in the shade at the campsite. When we walk up to the castle, we have 40 minutes left to visit. We invest part of the potential entrance fee (34 euros for two adults) in ice cream and watch the football match Argentina-Egypt in the bar.

In Amboise, we encounter a statue of Leonardo da Vinci near the campsite. He spent the last three years of his life here. Of course, there is a museum in his former residence in the town, but it was too late for that.
