The Losses and Gains of the Trip

Unfortunately, there were a few losses during the trip. Either due to destruction by external factors (often bramble bushes - a plague, I tell you), my own carelessness, general aging of the products, etc.. 

Losses

• a pair of bike socks (could be sewn after an attack by the bramble hedge), but succumbed to age a week later. No replacement.
• a bike bottle broke its valve when it fell, replacement bottle purchased at Decathlon.

• two clothespins (from eight became six)

• Two hairbands were lost. Replacement acquired.
• a chair gave way at a makeshift repair point and could not be repaired again. The broken chair went with Gabi and Stefan to Würzburg. Replacement chair was obtained at Decathlon.

• The second chair broke in the same spot but could be repaired.

• The pump sack for the sleeping pads burst after a wire drilled through the cover. Could be patched.

• The lining of the cycling shoes is now completely ruined by grass, which gets stuck in the fleece material. This will be the last season. They have lasted for eight years.

• The cleats of the cycling shoes had to be replaced since the existing ones were completely worn down due to the soles wearing out. 

• a bicycle inner tube had to be installed in the front wheel of the velocipede.
• The bottle of dish soap found another travel companion at one of the campsites.
• When falling, the suspension of a bike bag for Maria's luggage broke. Could be fixed by modifying the bag lock.
• The clamp for the mobile phone for navigation broke definitively after two springs fell out of the case two years ago. Replacement is waiting at the hotel in Völklingen.

• The outer fabric of the OC shoes has suffered injuries. Either from wear or destruction by malevolent tent pegs that simply get in the way. 

Gains

• New shoes for Maria.
