Corfu - here we are

2.8.2021 and we're finally going again! Vacation in beautiful Greece. Corfu, I'm looking forward to you again.

We take off at 9:40 am and I immediately fall into a comatose deep sleep (in my defense: the night ended at 3:30 am). Two hours later, Corfu welcomes us with a warm 35 degrees, the temperature difference of 20 degrees is already affecting us. Let's start with a delicious cheese pie (and beer)!

Earlier than expected, we can pick up the car, and what can I say? Under different circumstances, in other countries, I would have been happy about an upgrade... not here. I ask the nice lady from Surprice Cars (the name is program), if she's serious about this?! Unfortunately yes, all small cars are gone😒.

Well, Petra and I accept our fate and make ourselves comfortable in our mobile home.

We're going to Lidl, then to our first accommodation. Along the way, we stop a few times - the view is breathtaking and I ask Petra several times if she understands why I love Corfu so much... yes, she understands🙏🏽.

We find: "Man, it's pretty mountainous here and as lowlanders, it's not for us (and our huge car)."

Finally, Sebastian appears in front of us - our family accommodation in Agios Georgios (https://www.sebastians-corfu.com/).

I don't want to seem theatrical, but my tolerance limit in these narrow streets is reached, I'm glad when we can finally park the car.

And now we are being welcomed so warmly - Theresa, our host, introduces herself and the employees as well as her family (so nice, even an old Greek grandma in an apron dress is included). We learn that it has not been as warm since 1987 as it has been this summer.  

I'm glad that Petra is also hungry and likes to eat early, like me ☺️. 

So we sit down exactly at 6 p.m. in the tavern of the house and eat. I quickly regret ordering a hot dish, I'm sweating like crazy, it's so hot. But the food is goooood.

We end the evening at the beach in the sunset, my fellow traveler even goes swimming. I bet with her that I will go swimming early tomorrow morning - and I'm right, we'll go into the cool water the next morning ♥️🌊.
