Nice, oh no, Cannes

Published: 27.08.2021

It's relaxed in the morning. Phine is sleeping, I'm preparing our breakfast - melon and dry baguette☺️.

We enjoy the food on the terrace and decide to ride the bike along the promenade. The goal is to go to a shopping mall so Phine can buy her makeup. I'm excited about my bike, if it wasn't so small 😂.

We arrive bathed in sweat and enjoy the coolness of the shopping center.

We indulge at the bakery PAUL (Phine hates her order), and I suggest going to Cannes. Because it's only 40 minutes by train from here, which leaves nearby.

That's what we do. We're happy to catch the train... we ran like crazy for it. The ride is really beautiful along the coast - always with a view of the sea ☺️.

I realize that Cannes has a high density of operated faces, plumped lips, botoxed cheeks. Le capital plastique. Although the city center doesn't have much charm - there's a lack of narrow streets with small shops, but there are countless Boss, Dior and Chanel stores - we like it.

We walk along the promenade, admire the yachts, cool off at the fountain, and consider taking a helicopter tour of the Côte Azur. But it's fully booked.

Cannes is quiet as we stroll to Englishe Notre Dame de Esparance (a church on a hill from the 16th century), we hardly meet anyone. We enjoy staying in a small garden on site and finally find wonderful little alleys.

At the Cannes Walk of Fame, I discover Angelina Jolie's handprint... and on the red carpet, 3 Chinese people (without a double bass) sing and the accompanying women put on a fashion show. Cannes, as the location of the annual film festival, doesn't have as much charm as Nice, but it was worth a short detour.
