This morning we had a special appointment... with a T-Rex. π¦π We went to the Kualoa Ranch located in the eastern part of Oahu, which is a private nature reserve covering over 16km2. You can't explore the landscape on your own, but you have to choose one of the many activities, including bus, jeep or e-bike tours, zip line or horseback riding. This place has served as a backdrop in many famous movies. We should find out exactly which ones during our tour. We chose a tour with a quad bike. Here in the States, it's called an ATV tour and we booked it for one hour with a group of 7 people. While Steffi and I were sitting on such a device for the first time and were therefore extremely nervous, Patrick was as excited as a little boy. π After watching the safety video, putting on helmets and being assigned a quad bike, we set off in a convoy. It was good that Steffi and I were driving behind, because the first few meters weren't that easy. You have to accelerate with your thumb, and we initially lacked the feeling for it, so we drove in a too much gas-too little gas-too much gas-too little gas tempo π ππππ but I can tell you, it got better towards the end, but I was still relieved when the ride was over π Done quad biking βοΈ but don't need to do it again π
Otherwise, the tour was very impressive. This green landscape with meadows and mountains was so beautiful, and the many cattle that calmly watched the tourist hustle and bustle fit perfectly into the picture. From a viewpoint, you could also look out to the sea. Overall, a great adventure that was definitely worth it. And this area served as a backdrop for the following movies: Jurassic Park, King Kong Skull Island, Godzilla, the new Jumanji, and 50 First Dates.
After this exciting adventure, it was beach day at Kailua Beach and nothing else ππ so there's not much else to report.
Now we're flying to Big Island and will have a look at the "evil" volcano there ππ
