Fantasy Forest

After another period of focus and a good breakfast, we set off for the Garajonay National Park. This place truly feels like a blend of a fairy tale forest and a movie set.

The national park is part of the UNESCO World Heritage and is especially known for its ancient laurel forests, which are increasingly rare today. The high humidity and the constantly passing clouds create a completely mystical atmosphere. Everywhere you look, there are moss, twisted trees, and fog that suddenly appears between the paths. At times, I just waited for a fantasy character to stroll out from the woods.

At a viewpoint, we could particularly see how the clouds drift by at increasing heights right along the mountain slopes. It looked almost completely unreal, like slowly flowing water made of mist.

After about an hour of hiking, we weren't completely exhausted, but definitely hungry enough to head straight to the next restaurant. So, we went to Restaurante La Fortaleza, which conveniently was very close to our Airbnb.

And of course, we had to order Papas Arrugadas first. When you're in the Canaries, it's just a must.

With a coffee to go in hand, we then headed back to our terrace, where we spent the late afternoon and evening.
