Health tourism is a dynamic and fast-growing sector worldwide. The search for medical treatments and procedures outside national borders - for various reasons - has created an international offering of medical services that combine the procedures sought by patients with tourist experiences based on the natural, cultural, artisanal and indigenous riches of each offering country.

The growing need to meet the demand for invasive and non-invasive medical procedures for comprehensive well-being has fostered international mobility through agreements between insurance companies and individual transfers, resulting in the design of medical services for external patients in the destination locations.

This is a global phenomenon that, through the exploitation of price differences between the place of origin and destination, combined with similar quality in technology, protocols, and training of personnel (doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, administrative staff), has generated an alternative sector that results in the cooperation of many industries, creating value chains.
