Palomino Tubing

Published: 15.03.2024

Day 6

After a short break from the internet we can now continue

The next morning began in the spacious thatched roof house. Opposite there was a pool with fish, similar to the natural pool in Bassum, which was only usable. Before the morning shower, a dip in the cool water with a feast for the fish that nibbled on your feet and hands.

Today tubing was on the agenda. A few more cool blondes in the luggage and then the ride on motorcycles started. Then a 30-minute hike, which made you sweat a lot with a slight incline and 29 degrees. But then the moment arrived, the tire touched down in the water and at a relaxed pace we were able to observe the rainforest around us and spot many birds, a water snake, a well-camouflaged lizard and even a howler monkey. A beer had briefly become independent and wanted to navigate the river alone, but was caught at the expense of my sunglasses and the room key. During a short stop we were able to swing over the water with a rope and let go at the right moment and jump into the water. Theoretically. My jump was already painful for my back, but Marius had to go one better, let go of the rope as soon as possible, do a half somersault and use the rebound to sink the rope out of reach into the vastness of the tree to which he was attached. A new but funny situation for the locals too. The tour finally ended in the sea and after a short walk we were back at the accommodation to confess the loss of the keys. But no problem, our host handled it in a very relaxed manner and didn't ask for any compensation, which of course didn't stop us from giving him a little attention.

We then checked into the Beach Party Hostel, met our other fellow backpackers and made new acquaintances with a workaway woman and a young group of Colombians. According to the name of the hostel, the evening was taught to me a new game: Rana.
