First stop on my Southeast Asia trip, Thailand/Bangkok!
Of course, not least because the cheapest flights from Germany go here, I started my adventure in the Thai capital. I treated myself to the 4* Eastin Grand Hotel Sathorn for the first night to recover from jet lag and prepare for the coming time in peace. That's why all I did on the first day (26.03.19) was sleep, eat, and relax. Special highlight: the infinity pool on the 14th floor of the hotel π―π.
The next day, I took the water taxi to the second accommodation, the Tales Khaosan Hostel on a side street off Khao San Road. Since I had booked an 8-bed dormitory, I initially thought: goodbye luxury. However, since the low season in Thailand has now begun, I had a roommate for the first night, and I even slept alone on the second night. ππ Of course, I had to explore Khao San Road on the first evening, so I treated myself to a one-hour back and neck massage (for only 8 euros) ππ
After that, I tried my first Chang beer - not bad at all - in a cool bar with a DJ. π Of course, I didn't sit alone for long and two funny Koreans joined me π
Later, I picked up Amanda, my roommate from the hostel, to go out and party, and we met 2 Spaniards with whom we explored almost every!!! bar on Khao San Road ππππ
On the last day, sightseeing was on the agenda. Not necessarily pleasant at 36 degrees, but I still wanted to see a bit more than just the bars on Khao San Road π
When visiting the temple complexes, it is generally first distinguished whether you are Thai or not. As a local, you have free access, as a tourist you pay an entrance fee of 5-15 euros, depending on the temple. A bit cheeky, I will ask our priest at home to charge admission for the church - only for foreigners, of course - π β
In the end, I decided to visit only one temple complex, namely Wat Pho, whose main attraction is a huge, lying, golden Buddha. For us Europeans, everything here probably looks rather kitschy, but the buildings are truly impressive due to all the details and well... very golden... π
Completely exhausted from the previous evening, I only ate a little and made a short detour to Khao San Road again, then went to bed...
....And the next day, at 8 o'clock in the morning, I took the train to Kanchanaburi...
