We arrive in La Romana. Somehow, we don't really have a destination for this day. We first wander through the cruise terminal area with its shops, bars, and pool.

Upon arriving at the port exit, we are also overwhelmed by excursion providers and taxi drivers. The advantage here is the fixed prices for individual taxi rides. We decide on a trip to Altos de Chavón. The fare for 4 people is $30.

Altos de Chavón is a replica of a village in the style of the 16th century and a tourist attraction in the province of La Romana.

The travel time is about 20 minutes. On-site, we have 1 hour for the sightseeing. Our taxi driver is waiting for us. If we stay longer, an extra fee has to be paid. However, this is only when we are back at the port.

There is an entrance fee for Altos de Chavón. If I remember correctly, it was $5 per person.

After the return trip to the cruise terminal, we quickly grab our swimwear and spend the rest of the day by the pool. The lounge chairs are free, only for the sun umbrella do you pay $10. The drinks at the bar are also reasonably priced.
