From Buenos Aires to Ushuaia Tierra del Fuego

Yesterday we spent another quiet day in Buenos Aires. Buenos Aires is a great city. I was only happy because of the mosquitoes that the journey continued this morning to Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego. Our landlady told us last night that mosquitoes transmit dengue fever and that several people in Buenos Aires had already died from it. There is a real mosquito invasion this year. We also had a few bites and were able to observe dozens of people who kept lashing out. These mosquitoes are horrible animals.

We changed accommodation last night to be closer to the airport because we had a flight in the morning. We should take an Uber to the accommodation. The driver was really nice, but the car was awesome. The belts were broken, the passenger seat was secured with tape and the engine was roaring loudly on the highway. Daniela asked me, "What actually happens if the car breaks apart now"? "No idea"! I then took a look at his engine light and lo and behold it and the fuel gauge were flashing. I had a fit of laughter because I suddenly had images in my head. I had to pull myself together so much when we got out. But everything was fine, the car made it to the destination and I didn't collapse laughing.

This morning we went to Ushuaia. After 3 hours 30 minutes we landed. When we left the airport, you could clearly see the huge foothills of the Andes. Also the Beagle Canal, where the large cruise ships are in the harbor. Some of them will head to Antarctica. It looks gigantic as the huge ships lie in the harbor and the Andes rise up behind them.

It's still summer here in Ushuaia, which means it's around 13 to 16 degrees, maybe even less. The weather here actually changes hourly.

The city looks like a colorful ski resort. The fronts of the houses often have wooden paneling with colorful floral patterns. There are many small, cute cafes, some souvenir and trekking shops.

You can also move around freely in the city, it's safe to go out for a drink in the evening. The people are all very friendly here too. We feel really comfortable in Ushuaia.

We are going on a tour to a lagoon tomorrow. We're really looking forward to that.
