Laguna Capri with a view of Fitz Roy

First of all: thanks for keeping your fingers crossed, the heating was at least lukewarm :-). Did I sleep better because of that...no?! The frosty night hasn't passed without a trace: I have a bit of a cold. I never get sick, but now I'm annoyed by a nasty cold :-(.

For breakfast there were umpteen cups of tea, gag... gag.

We were debating whether we should just lie down by the river or take a very easy walk.

But this bright blue sky encouraged us to do a half-day tour of medium difficulty. In any case, slowly with lots of breaks. So we did a trek of 9 km and an altitude difference of 800 m. The destination was the Laguna Capri with a view of the Fitz Roy and there was another viewpoint that we also wanted to walk to. After about 1 km we rested. That was funny. We met an older couple from Austria and Lower Bavaria there. I thought they were so cool when they were traveling in and around Fitz Roy for six days with a tent and sleeping bag. When asked if it wasn't too cold at night, the Austrian said "well, I have a really good sleeping bag there".... I just said "well, we wimps have a really good hotel and unfortunately the heating didn't work one night and We already have a bad cold." As the conversation continued, I saw two condors again and enthusiastically pointed them out. But the only answer I received was: "There are no condors, there are black vultures, they are not even as big as our mountain eagles".... "Oh now don't take away my illusions here, they are a bit small, but We were told at the accommodation that the young animals would learn to fly here...." After a bit of collective talk we continued up. The trek was really tough. You had to be very careful where you stepped. Here too there were many passages with roots and stones.

It rose steadily and the sun kept shining on our faces. The view down to the river and into the valley was great. After every kilometer we completed, we rested because we both felt the effort.

After 2 hours we reached Laguna Capri. The sight was gigantic. The lake is surrounded on one side by mountains with huge amounts of snow on them. The lake had several sections where you could rest. We had a little picnic there and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Then a huge bird of prey landed about 2 meters away from us and watched us. That was crazy. After a lot of sunbathing, we headed to the next viewing point. On the way there we saw a great woodpecker furiously working on a tree. The bird was at eye level with us and didn't let us disturb it. That was so cool, as if the bird was saying, "hey you two cuties ;-) look how I'm building my house". I thought that was gigantic.

After a short time we reached the next viewing point and were once again totally impressed by the view of Fitz Roy. Once we could hear a sheet of ice falling off, it sounded like a very loud thunder.

Now it went down again and I won't hide it :-()! I fell lengthways. Wow, I was laying there on the floor expecting the worst. Luckily I only have scratches on the palms of my hands. By the way, they still hurt, so I would be very happy about a portion of pity ;-)! Luckily the ground there was sandy and dusty. If I had hit a passage with stones, the outcome would probably have been different. AND NO..., I didn't look around while running, no, I was thinking about delicious cold "Anke Nussecken"!!!

Otherwise the descent went without any special incidents. When we arrived at the bottom of the valley, we treated ourselves to some delicious pasta. There was also a larger dog in the restaurant who sat down next to me and of course got a good cuddle. Now I couldn't stop crawling! Hmmm, Littlefoot, the dog was like YOU :-)! Now Daniela and I are sitting in a bar and letting the evening end :-).
