Arrival in Santiago de Chile

Our plane took off from Düsseldorf to Paris on time. There was nothing going on at D'dorf airport, which was really pleasant. As soon as we were in the air we went down again. A very short and beautiful flight to Paris.

We had a 4 hour stay in Paris. We got around it by chilling in the lounge area. At midnight we finally headed towards Chile. I was so tired that I actually fell into dreamland shortly after the start. I also overslept my meal. I slept for eight hours and was really happy about the great sleep unit. After almost 14 hours of flying time, we landed in Santiago de Chile at around 10:00 a.m.

I had decided to stop whining when it was too hot. Oh shit..... it's crazy hot here. Help - today it was 34 degrees. We had ordered an Uber and were standing outside in the sun. Phew, Daniela grinned and just said, "It's a pleasant heat, dry and not high humidity" :-)! I didn't want to spoil the good mood, so I kindly hid in the shadows.

We then took the Uber to our hotel. During the 20 minute drive we were able to get a first impression of Chile. We were pleasantly surprised. Here too, as in Brazil, there are a lot of high-rise buildings. Luckily there wasn't much traffic and the streets were otherwise very quiet. Our hotel is located just outside the center in a quiet, beautiful area. We were lucky, we were allowed straight to our room. Without unpacking too much, we packed our swimming gear and were in the pool in no time. GREAT, what a cool down. I was satisfied. From our pool and the associated roof terrace you have a great view of Santiago.

Around lunchtime we went to a great bistro and ate typical local dishes. Very tasty, at least for me...grin. We then walked to the cable car station and took a gondola up to Cerro San Cristobal. That was gigantic. The view from the gondola was incredible. We looked at each other and said “is that all Santiago de Chile”? Sooooo unbelievably great!!! Also the gigantic Andes chain, wow.

When I got to the top there was a huge ice cream for me. Then we went to the highest point on the hill and just marveled. What a fantastic view. But it was still incredibly hot and I had the feeling that it was getting hotter and hotter. Then I didn't feel like it anymore and I got tired. We then took the gondola back and walked very slowly back to the hotel. Here we are now trying to stay awake for about 2 hours so that we can cope better with the time change. We are fighting bravely, but will probably fail (like Bayern did today) ;-)

Tomorrow we'll take a hop on hop of bus to all the sights in the city. We are very excited. It should only be 29 grand tomorrow, yes if that's the case....:-)!
