Seychelles 2023 - Part: 3 Mahé

Day 1

Our first day in Mahé starts in our beautiful apartment with breakfast on the huge terrace, under blue skies and pleasant temperatures.

Shortly after, more and more clouds are forming, and the sky becomes increasingly dramatic.

Our goal for noon is the 'Takamaka' Rum Distillery. A small tasting is, of course, a must.

Soon, the dark clouds start to disperse, and we admire the beauty of nature on a small trail.

In the late afternoon, there are hardly any clouds left in the sky, and we immediately head for the sea to cool off.

Day 2

Today starts with a few laps of swimming in our pool.

After breakfast, we drive to the central highlands of the island and embark on our first tour of Mahé through the Morne Blanc rainforest. The trail is beautiful and sweaty. Once we reach the summit, we catch a brief glimpse of the coast before the clouds completely obstruct our view.

After a quick refreshment, we drive along the entire north coast and enjoy the beautiful bays and lush green nature.

Day 3

After today started with rain and many dark clouds, we took our time for breakfast and enjoyed our fantastic covered balcony.

Since the weather in Mahé can change every half an hour, we were able to see blue skies again by 10 o'clock. We decided to explore the south with its many small bays and secluded beaches.

With open eyes and some patience, there is so much interesting to discover.

After a short hike through the forest, we arrive at an almost deserted beach. 'Police Bay' is its name, and although we don't know why, it is absolutely beautiful.

Day 4

After a heavy thunderstorm and heavy rain last night, the sky is cloudless in the morning. We want to go to the northwest of the island, to the Morne National Park. In this region, the past few days have been filled with heavy clouds and frequent rain, so we take the opportunity to leave early. Our destination is the Anse Major Trail.

This beautiful coastal hiking trail is one of the most beautiful on Mahé. Partly shaded, partly over black granite rocks, but always with beautiful views of the sea and the offshore islands.

At the end of the trail, comes the reward. An almost deserted bay to cool off in crystal clear waters.

In the afternoon, we visit Victoria, the world's smallest capital city. The city, surrounded by steep mountains on one side, is the economic and cultural center of the republic. It owes its present name to the British Queen Victoria.

In the center of the city stands the Clock Tower, a replica of the Little Ben clock tower in London.

Day 5 and 6

Our last day in the Seychelles is very relaxed. We drive to the northwest coast again, through this incredibly green landscape, with fantastic views of the coast. We spend the morning at Port Launay Beach. Here, in a large calm bay, there are good opportunities for snorkeling.

It's Easter Sunday, and everywhere we see locals dressed up and heading to church.

Once again, in the morning, we enjoy the beautiful view from our bed in our lovely apartment before we slowly say goodbye.

Two beautiful weeks in the Seychelles come to an end, and we are grateful and overjoyed to have experienced this paradise.
