Forced break at the 'Peacebase'

By chance, we run into Tanja on a beach and even recognize each other. Actually, we've been friends on Facebook for a long time, but we've never met in real life and suddenly she stands right in front of me. She invites us to the Peacebase with Sascha, where she has her base, meaning a parking space with a wonderful garden and tent. We are pleasantly surprised when we drive into the beautiful parking area in the hinterland of Valencia. Here, there is a finca with a shower and toilet, a communal room with a kitchen and outdoor kitchen, as well as a great terrace surrounded by palm and carob trees. The finca is nestled among huge orange groves that are in full bloom and it smells wonderfully flowery. Long-term campers have nice parking spots with their own gardens. Vegetables and flowers are planted and there is a warm community spirit. The monthly rent is 140 euros. Additionally, there is parking for travelers passing through and, of course, the possibility to take showers for a small fee. We immediately feel at home with the people here and decide to stay for a few days.

A while back, we noticed that our radiator has a crack and we are getting help here. Liam, the mechanic from the area, comes to us, takes out our radiator, takes it with him, and has it soldered. The agreed time was 2-5 days, but now it's already been 8 days, grin... we're in Spain, and everything goes a little slower here... we're used to it. Besides, there are truly worse places to wait than here. Almost daily, travelers come through and it never gets boring, as everyone has a lot to share. I cook cheese spaetzle for everyone and spaghetti bolognese, and we really enjoy this community here.

We start renovating our truck. Almost three years by the sea have taken a toll on it and rust is showing through everywhere. So we spend days sanding, painting, and now at least the front looks nice again 😊. We will spend the Easter holidays here and when the radiator is reinstalled, Liam will also weld the exhaust for us in his workshop because we lost the muffler on the road.

It was truly a positive twist of fate that brought us here and it certainly won't be our last visit to the beautiful Peacebase.
