After a wonderfully relaxed 8 weeks on the beach in Tarifa, we are now on the move again. This year's winter break was superb. We were with friends from last year and met many new nice people. At times, around 260 vehicles were there, and we met many lovely individuals.

We celebrated Christmas with 8 people on a finca with friends. There was good food, playing, and dancing, and of course, we spent a long time in the palm garden with a sea view, soaking up the sun. For us, this Christmas was definitely unforgettable. We also celebrated New Year's Eve outside on the beach late into the night and were all very happy that none of the campers set off fireworks. Our dogs all suffer quite a bit on New Year's Eve, and since it seems almost every camper has a dog, the fireworks were completely absent here, allowing us to enjoy a wonderful transition into the new year together.

Our good friend Andi and his son Lenny also arrived on time, and together we celebrated into the new year, spending wonderful days with each other as usual. Thank you for your visit 😊.

But after over 8 weeks, we are feeling restless again, and our funny group is breaking apart in all directions once more. Take care, everyone, and thank you for this fun and unforgettable time.

Our friend Dany from Switzerland with his monster truck will accompany us for a while longer. We met two years ago and have crossed paths multiple times since. Before we head back to civilization together, the boys get to play in the sand πŸ˜…πŸ˜Š. In La Linea, there is a huge dune area where we can finally engage our all-wheel drive on a sandy path. Off we go through the dunes, the sand getting deeper, and the trucks giving it their all. In the blink of an eye, it happens. The Swiss truck is stuck, and nothing moves anymore. With a grin on our faces, we start digging, and before long, we have the truck back out, spending 2 fantastic nights in the middle of nowhere among the dunes by the sea.

On our way to Fueringola, we are initially stressed by the heavy traffic and chaos around us...welcome back to civilization πŸ˜…. We have to get used to it again, but then we also enjoy the hustle and bustle of the city.

In stages, we eventually end up in Salobrena near Motril. Things are getting serious for us, as Kilian's follow-up treatment is approaching. Just over a year ago, he was once again diagnosed with cancer and bravely underwent surgery and chemotherapy, which had to be stopped because he acquired an MRSA germ in the hospital. Hairless and still a bit weak, we set off back to warm Spain. He has recovered wonderfully over the year, his hair has returned, and he feels healthy. Nevertheless, we have had the fear of a recurrence always slightly in the back of our minds throughout the year. Now the date is set. On January 30th, we will be in Motril at the radiology department, waiting for what is to come. A CT scan and blood tests will be done, and now we must wait for the results. This week has been quite tough for us, as this result will determine our further path. Sleep in the evening was elusive; thoughts were racing in circles, and we tried to distract ourselves with games and walks. Our friend Dany is still with us, which adds to our distraction. When I pick up the results a week later and we read the report with bated breath, tears of joy flow freely. Kilian is healthy!! All values are within the normal range, and thus our journey continues. 😊 We need hours on that day to let everything sink in.

Now, a few days later, we are on the move again, and it feels liberating to finally be free of this fear. We will drive the coastal road along the Mediterranean towards the north in the coming weeks. This area is still uncharted territory for us, and we are very much looking forward to it. The inland also awaits exploration, but since there is still snow in the mountains, we will wait a little longer. Our first stop at the sea near La Alcazaba is a stroke of luck. Harpoon fishermen go hunting and return with a fat catch; it is very warm, and we are cooking outdoors right by the sea in shorts. In the mornings, we see dolphins swimming by and are just happy to be able to be here and continue traveling. World, here we come πŸ˜‚πŸ˜Š
