Our third day began unexpectedly early: At 1:30 am, we were awakened by a fox. The day before, we had wondered why the apples were lying three meters away from the tent – now we know better. The fox first sniffed around our vestibule for something edible before moving on to the trash can where we had disposed of our leftovers the night before. After this nighttime scare, we crawled back into our sleeping bags.
For breakfast, we had delicious scrambled eggs. Since the boat tour the day before was canceled due to the weather, we were determined to make it happen today. After a brief but intense conversation with the reception, we were allowed to rent the boats at our own risk despite an existing storm warning. We took the plunge – and were rewarded with a windy but exciting tour. Meanwhile, we tried our hand at fishing, which was quite a challenge given the strong wind.
For lunch, we had pasta with tomato sauce. We borrowed the pot for this from a friendly camper. While part of the group cooked, the other part went shopping for dinner. After eating, we jumped into the water, played frisbee, water polo, and simply enjoyed the day by the lake. Later, we had a little volleyball match against a camping couple – unfortunately, we lost both rounds narrowly.
In the evening, we grilled together. To wrap up the day, we made another fishing attempt – this time with success! A nice conclusion to a varied and adventurous day.
